Honduras - Volunteering To Help
Most volunteers want to know if they have to be able to speak Spanish. Well it certainly helps although many volunteers go with only some Spanish Speaking skills, yet by the time they return they can have improved greatly. It is often suggested that if you plan on going to buy some tapes or a CD Rom Spanish Lessons for your car and listen to them and practice up on your conversational Spanish prior to your departure date for your volunteer mission. Nathalie told us;
"I was also concerned about not being able to speak and understand Spanish having taken only a few classes. I did ask not to get an interpreter. Total immersion is the best way to learn and Dr Rudy was always there to help me in case of complicated situations and to give me a second opinion. These missions also helped me learn Spanish. On the first morning of the mission, Francisco a friend asked me how many languages I spoke. I said two and a half. By the end of the day, I told Francisco; ask me how many languages I speak? Two and three quarters!!"

Security and Safety
One of the questions people most commonly ask is; Is it Safe to Travel to Honduras? The answer is yes if you are in a group and stick with your plan and stay heads up and pay attention. As they say there is safety in numbers and Honduras is a lot safer than many other Central American Countries.
Still there is a bit of crime in Honduras and a drug issue as well. Honduras has some guerrilla activity at times and sometimes one hears a glimpse of their activities from the locals who are quite fearful and refuse to talk about it. It makes sense for all volunteers to mind their own business and do the job they have come to do, to help people.
Sometimes volunteers will comment on things they see such as a Pepsi Truck delivering soda to a gas station which is accompanied by an armed guard carrying a machine gun. Often they strap themselves to the outside to stay in position. Pepsi is a very popular brand apparently? Many stores in town also have armed guards, as well.
One seasoned traveler and volunteer to Honduras gives some very good advice on traveling in Honduras;
"I definitely do not recommend traveling alone in those countries as often our bus would get stopped and we sent one of the locals or the priest or nun in our group to talk to them and we got our passage. Traveling alone can prove very dangerous. We also hired local drivers as they know the roads and the dangers and how to avoid them."

Genre Novels - Word Count Rules, Subgenres, and Guidelines For Getting Your Book Published
Wondering "How long is my book? How long should my book be? What genre is my book or novel?" Keep reading. If you have written a novel, use this article to be sure that your book meets the basic guidelines of literary agents and book publishers. You will be more likely to be published if your book follows the "rules" of your genre (whether romance, thriller, Western, fantasy, young adult, historical, or horror).
Disclaimer: Keep in mind that the information below is an overview of guidelines. For the best results always research specific information about your project.
Crime
The Rules Of Fantasy Genre Novels Fantasy is generally about world building (creating alternative worlds). Avoid clichés in your characterization, and let your major themes be strong yet subtle. Always research publisher guidelines: One publishing house states caveats such as "no time machines, please."
Fantasy novels can contain between 80,000 and 150,000 words (approximately). Fantasy novels can be a little longer than other novels, and they are sometimes serialized.
Subgenres of fantasy include: high, fantasy of manners, alternate history, dark, historical, steampunk, urban, wuxia, and more.
The Rules Of Romance Genre Novels A romance usually emphasizes the heroine's perspective, and the reader should be drawn into the love story. Romances end with a happily ever after of some kind.
How long is a romance novel? A stand-alone romance novel is normally between 80,000 and 100,000 words. A category romance novel (like those published by Harlequin) is generally shorter, and each "imprint" will have its own criteria. Be sure you know what imprint you're targeting before you start writing.
Subgenres of romance include: women's fiction, Regency, historical, fantasy/science fiction, contemporary, Christian, time travel, paranormal, erotica, and more.
The Rules Of Historical Fiction Genre NovelsResearch and attention to detail are of top importance in historical fiction. Characters must behave in accordance with the times. Plots can be "big" (featuring many strong characters and tackling big or complex issues). Some historicals are part of a saga (a series of books that covers generations within a family or many characters).
How long is a historical novel? A stand-alone historical book may be 85,000 to 100,000 words. Publishing a book longer than 100,000 words is difficult (especially for first-timers), but historical novels are sometimes longer.
The Rules Of Mystery Genre Novels Pay special attention to plot and pacing in this genre. Introduce the murder or the crime early, and research the methods by which the crime was committed. Research forensics, criminal justice, and detective procedures to lend credibility.
How long is a mystery novel? Mysteries vary in length. Stand-alone mysteries (which may have some overlap with thrillers) may be between 75,000 and 100,000 words. Cozy mysteries, like those in a series, are often on the shorter side.
Subgenres of mystery include: crime, hardboiled, true crime, cozy, amateur sleuth, supernatural, police procedural, and more.
The Rules Of Thriller Genre Novels Emphasis in thrillers is on strong characters, action, and fast pacing. Thrillers often show clear antagonists and protagonists. Thrillers can be graphic and gritty or somewhat tamer. Focus is always on suspense.
How long is a thriller novel? Thriller novels generally run between 90,000 to 100,000 words (loosely), but they can be a little longer as well.
Subgenres of thrillers include: conspiracy, crime, action, political, disaster, erotica, eco, legal, and more.
The Rules Of Horror Genre Novels Fears and phobias play into the reader's emotions in this genre. There is often a supernatural and paranormal element, but as always, steer clear of clichés.
Horror novels vary in length and are generally between 80,000 and 100,000 words.
Subgenres of horror include: ghost, erotic, psychological, body horror, weird menace, occult detective, and more.
The Rules Of Young Adult (YA) Genre Novels Young adult (YA) fiction targets boys and girls between the ages of 12-18. The tone, style, and content of YA novels changes depending on the specific age of the target audience. The genre can tackle G-rated issues or it can be very edgy.
Generally, YA books run between 40,000 and 75,000 words, depending on the target age group.
"Edgy" YA tackles controversial or difficult topics. Otherwise, subgenres of YA are the same as subgenres of adult fiction.
The Rules Of Western Genre Novels Westerns should be set west of the Mississippi River and before the year 1900. Historical details must be accurate. Westerns are very specific and specialized, but be sure that you're not relying on clichés!
How long is a Western book? Westerns tend to be on the shorter side, anywhere from 45,000 to 75,000 words (loosely).

Adult Book Stores
Adult book stores cater to some of the needs of adults, meaning they pamper the basic instincts of sex and - in some cases - sleaze. The reality is that adult books comprise a niche market of great fascination not only to young men and women, but also to adolescents and old persons alike.
Ask an adult book store owner and he will tell you that he sells books on healthy sex for normal persons and not just for "sexual delinquents" or "dirty old men". Besides books on sex, these adult bookstores also sell gifts, novelties, toys, videos, DVDs, used and new magazines and other sex related material for fun and entertainment. These bookstores also cater to the needs of gays, lesbians and homosexuals, and so on. Most of these adult bookstores remain open 24 hours, while some take two hours' break for the necessary "clean-ups". To further whet the appetite of their customers some of these stores also have small "theaters" to preview the books that the customer may intend to buy.
Crime
Entry to adult bookstores is often restricted to persons who are at least 19 years old. In some states it is obligatory to show valid ID as proof of age before entering these adult book stores.
While providing legitimate fun and entertainment should not be discouraged, some adult bookstores degenerate into promoting illegal forms of sex, which just scares the healthy fun seekers. These places are sometimes creepy and utterly revolting and tend to become dens of obscenity, prostitution and crime. Unfortunately, it is difficult to draw a line between healthy sexual entertainment and "perverted" sex. Yet, going by the number of people who visit these stores, it can only be concluded that their popularity is on the rise.

Knoxville Crime Scene Cleanup
Knoxville Crime Scene Cleanup is a niche market within the cleaning industry of Knoxville. Knoxville is the third-largest city in the U.S. state of Tennessee, behind Memphis and Nashville, and it is also the largest city in East Tennessee. Tennessee and the State of Washington have the nation's highest legal standards for methamphetamine lab abatement.
While no one wants to confront the possibility of a suicide, homicide or accidental death, these events often do occur. In case of a violent death several crucial tasks are performed by the investigation department and police force. But it's not their duty to clean up the scene. Crime scene cleanup is the responsibility of asset holders. Generally they are not well-known with the secure measures to clean up such scene. During the attempt of removing the leftovers the exposure to infected body fluids, HIV blood and further biological incidents could occur.
Crime
Usually after the occurrence of a violent death i.e. homicide, suicide or accident in someone's residence, the family members do not go out of the home. Here to remove all bio hazards and every mark of what happened in a result of such scene is the job of a crime scene cleaner. The tissues or blood at such event can be a possible source of contamination. Special expertize are required to deal with bio hazardous material. Moreover the permits are necessary to move and dispose of bio hazardous material.
Knoxville Crime Scene Cleanup Companies handle all aspects of the work from start to end. These companies are well equipped, ready to take action and provide their services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Once informed to a scene, whether homes, businesses, construction sites, boats and autos, their technicians assess the degree of the damage and get ready a written proposal. They immediately initiate the restoration measures after the acceptance of proposal. They clean, sterilize and deodorize all affected areas along with proper disposal. For possibly obtaining reimbursement they also present support with insurance procedures.

Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act - Felonies and Misdemeanors
The words "computer crime" generally conjures one of two ideas: high-tech espionage or child pornography. However, in Oklahoma these take on a much broader approach. From online solicitation of a minor and other internet sex crimes to hacking and fraud, these crimes in Oklahoma are clearly defined by the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act (21 O.S. 1951 et. seq.). Section 1953 of the Oklahoma Statutes deems the following to be criminal offenses: (partial list)
1. Willfully, and without authorization, gain or attempt to gain access to and damage, modify, alter, delete, destroy, copy, make use of, disclose or take possession of a computer, network or any other property;
Crime
2. Use a computer or any other property as defined for the purpose of devising or executing a scheme or artifice with the intent to defraud, deceive, extort or for the purpose of controlling or obtaining money, property, services or other thing of value by means of a false or fraudulent pretense or representation;
3. Willfully exceed the limits of authorization and damage, modify, alter, destroy, copy, delete, disclose or take possession of a computer, computer system, computer network or any other property;
4. Willfully and without authorization, gain or attempt to gain access to a computer, computer system, computer network or any other property;
Under the Oklahoma law, some of these crimes are misdemeanor offenses, but most of the offenses are felonies. Misdemeanors include:
• Accessing a computer or network without authorization
• Using or allowing the use of a computer service without authorization
• Using a computer, computer system, or computer network to abuse, threaten, or harass another individual
The six remaining crimes are felonies. Some specific examples of CPU crime include internet fraud; computer sexual exploitation; copyright piracy (illegally downloading music, for example); hacking; and development and distribution of viruses, worms, bots, spyware, and malware.
Along with the increasing access to computers and the internet comes increased responsibility for ethical use of technology. By abusing the privileges of technology through internet sex crimes and other computer crimes, one risks the consequences of conviction. Conviction of a misdemeanor computer crime in Oklahoma is can result in a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail and up to ,000 in fines. Oklahoma computer crime felonies are punishable by fines of ,000 to 0,000 and a maximum prison sentence of ten years. Additionally those convicted are also subject to civil lawsuits as well as criminal charges.
